Health insurance is a type of insurance coverage offered by private carriers that cover the cost of an insured individual's medical, surgical, and Rx expenses. Typically there is an out-of-pocket limitation, protecting the insured from extremely high bills. Often in the form of Obamacare(Affordable Care Act) plans, all plans provide similar coverage, yet differ based on risk, networks, and Rx coverage. Other health insurance options include non-ACA compliant options.
Dental Insurance will help offset costs associated with preventive and comprehensive dental services. Vision Insurance will help offset costs associated with routine vision exams and eyewear.
Life Insurance/Final Expense
A life insurance policy is a contract with an insurance carrier to pay out a lump-sum upon the insured's death. Life insurance is generally chosen based on the needs and goals of the owner.
The most common policies are term life insurance plans, which are temporary (usually 20 years in length) but offer a low premium while providing a high death benefit.
Final Expense whole life insurance is common for people above age 50, created to provide cash for costs associated with funeral arrangements or bereavement. Typically these plans have lower premiums and lower face amounts, simple underwriting, and fast payout.
Cancer and Heart Attack or Stroke Insurance
Once cancer or heart attack/stroke is medically diagnosed, a full(lump sum) benefit is paid directly to the policyholder to use any way they choose, regardless of other insurance coverage they have, including Medicare.
Recovery Care (Short-term)
Recovery Care insurance pays daily benefits for stays in nursing homes or assisted living facilities, and can also be used for home health care. These plans pay above and beyond what health insurance pays, so the choice is yours to where you get your care.
Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) is a basic building block of Medicare. It covers services like hospital stays and hospice care. You may pay a premium for Part A though most people don’t. As long as you sign up when you’re first eligible for Medicare and you or your spouse paid Medicare taxes while working.
Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance) pays 80% of approved charges for services like doctor visits and outpatient care. It’s optional, but most people get it. You’ll probably pay around $134 a month for your premium, but there are lots of plans to help with Part B costs like copays, coinsurance, and deductibles. Be sure to enroll on time to avoid penalties.
Medicare Supplements (Medigap)
A Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap) policy, sold by private companies, are made to cover some, or all of the copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles passed over from Original Medicare. Working as secondary insurance, a Medicare Supplement does not include Part D coverage. Features include low risk, no network restrictions, and simplicity.
Most common plans are Plan F, Plan G, or Plan N.
Medicare Part C (Advantage)
Medicare Advantage plans are a type of Medicare health plan offered by a private company that contracts with Medicare to provide you with all your Part A and Part B benefits. Most Medicare Advantage Plans offer prescription drug coverage and often include additional benefits such as dental and vision coverage. These plans are characterized by often low premiums, network restrictions, and copays.
Medicare Part D (Drug Coverage)
Medicare Part D, also called the Medicare prescription drug benefit, is a US federal-government program to subsidize the costs of prescription drugs and prescription drug insurance premiums for Medicare beneficiaries. These plans are available through private carriers who contract with the federal government. Data, such as current Rx and preferred pharmacy, is used to determine the right plan.
